Let’s practice speaking English every day with short, simple stories.

The morning I changed my life

I used to wake up late every day, feeling tired and hopeless. One morning, I looked in the mirror and asked myself, “Do I really want to live this forever? “. That question hit me hard. I decide to go for a run. My legs hurt, and my breath was short, but my heart felt alive. Each step reminded me that progress starts small. Now, every morning, I rise before the sun and move with purpose. I learned that motivation isn’t something we find; it’s something we build.

✈️ A Day at Changi Airport

When I arrived at Changi airport (/ˈtʃæŋi ˈeəpɔːt/), I felt like I was entering a city inside a building. I walked through the Jewel (/ˈdʒuːəl/), where a huge indoor waterfall sparkled /ˈspɑːrkəld/ under the sunlight. The air smelled fresh from all the plants in the rainforest garden. I tried the skytrain to another terminal and watched airplanes take off. Later, I relaxed in a butterfly garden – it was peaceful and colorful. Exploring Changi made me realize that an airport can be more than a travel stop. It can be a beautiful adventure.

🍗 Chicken Rice in Singapore

When I arrived in Singapore, everyone told me to try Hainanese Chicken Rice. I followed the delicious aroma (/əˈroʊmə/ — mùi thơm) to a small food court. The chef served soft, juicy (mọng nước) chicken on fragrant (/ˈfreɪɡrənt/ — thơm ngát) rice with a little bowl of soup. I added spicy chili sauce and sweet soy sauce. The taste was simple but perfect – warm, comforting, and full of flavor. As I finished my meal, I realized that food isn’t just about eating; it’s about feeling the culture of a place.

🍛 A Spicy Adventure at Na Na Curry

Today, I went to Na Na Curry for lunch. The smell of spices (/ˈspaɪsɪz/ — gia vị) filled the air as I entered. I ordered their famous curry chicken with bread. The curry was thick, rich, and slightly spicy. I dipped the soft bread into the golden gravy (/əˈroʊmə/ — mùi thơm). As I ate, I felt happy and relaxed. Good food, I realized, doesn’t just fill your stomach – it fills your heart, too.

☕ My First Kopi Adventure

When I first arrived in Singapore, I wanted a coffee. But when I said, “One coffee, please,” the uncle at the stall smiled and said, “OK, one Kopi.”

He explained: “Kopi is coffee with condensed milk – sweet and creamy. Kopi-C has evaporated milk, less sweet. Kopi-O is black coffee with sugar. And Kopi Kosong means no milk, no sugar.”

I tried Kopi-C and wow – it was smooth, rich, and just right for the hot morning! Now, I can’t start my day without a cup of coffee.

My Digital Mine

I walk into my small room. I hear a hum (hʌm) — a low, soft sound. It comes from my mining computer (ˈmaɪnɪŋ kəmˈpjuːtər).

Many hard drives (hɑːd draɪvz) blink with little lights. The AMD fan spins fast to keep the machine cool. My computer works all day and night to find digital coins (ˈdɪdʒɪtəl kɔɪnz).

I call it the heart of my digital mine. It never sleeps, never stops. It changes electricity (ɪˌlɛkˈtrɪsɪti) into hope, code(kəʊd) into value, and dreams into something real.

My First Salary in Singapore

After a month of working in Singapore, I received my first salary. I was so excited. But instead of cash, my company gave me a cheque (tʃek).

At first, I didn’t know what to do with it because this was the first time I received a salary by cheque. My colleague said, “You need to deposit it in your bank.”

So, I went to the bank counter, showed my cheque, and learned how to fill out the deposit slip. Two days later, I saw the money in my account. It felt interesting with the new experinece!

My Morning Exercise

I woke up early to go jogging(/ˈdʒɒɡɪŋ/) around the lake. The air was fresh, and the sunrise(/ˈsʌnraɪz/) painted the sky with soft colors. At first, my legs felt heavy, but after a few minutes, I found my rhythm (/ˈrɪðəm/). Exercise clears my mind and fills me with motivation. I know it’s not easy to wake up early every day, but discipline (/ˈdɪsəplɪn/) builds strength. When I finished my run, I felt proud and alive. Every step is a promise to myself to keep moving forward.

Cooking Spaghetti

Today, I cooked spaghetti (/spəˈɡeti/) for lunch. I boiled the pasta and prepared a sauce with tomatoes, garlic, and olive oil. When I mixed everything together, the colors looked beautiful – red, yellow, and green. The taste reminded me of the trip to Italy. I realized cooking is like painting; every ingredient adds something special. As I ate, I felt proud that I had made a simple but delicious meal. I wrote: “Food is art that we can eat.”
